At Boatright Farms we use a variety of livestock species including cattle, sheep, and goats in order to utilize the unique benefits that each species brings to the farm. We practice planned grazing. All animals are rotated onto new swards of pasture (we like to call them salad bars) from once every three days to multiple times a day depending on the time of year, type of animal and our goals. The old sward of grass is then left to regrow and recover, and the animals get a fresh sward of grass which is optimal for their health and growth. To learn more about the land healing aspect of our grazing operation see our Land Restoration page. To learn more about the animals we raise click the species: Cattle, Laying Hens, Sheep and Goats.
